Hayriggs, Skirwith, Cumbria - Holiday Cottage (****)

Home Page

Hayriggs was converted from an old hay barn in 2006 and offers 4 star spacious and modern short break or holiday accommodation for up to 4 adults and a baby. Situated in the pretty village of Skirwith, it is part of the beautiful Eden Valley on the edge of the Pennine Hills.

Cross Fell, the highest mountain in the Pennine range is only a few miles away and the lakes and mountains of the Lake District National Park are within 10 miles.

Skirwith itself is a tranquil, rural village set amid rolling green fields. A small beck flows through the middle of the village which has a small children’s playground and an elegant listed church.

Langwathby, two and a half miles away has a good general store and Post Office. Eden Ostrich World in Langwathby also has a café with an open farm.

The nearest pub is at nearby Ousby and provides good food, good beer and a pleasant atmosphere. The villages of Melmerby, Langwathby and Culgaith, all within a few miles, have pubs offering food. Melmerby also has an excellent organic bakery and restaurant.
The busy market town of Penrith is 8 miles away and has supermarkets, leisure centre & pool, restaurants, shops and a cinema.

Cycling, walking and fishing are all popular activities in the local area but there are numerous alternatives within easy reach for both children and adults.
